Ajax To Ajax, Dust To Dust

"enn doelpunt van een andrer planeet"
(It's a goal from another planet)
Louis Van Gaal, former Ajax coach,
describing one of Bergkamp's lobs.

It'll feel bad to see Dennis Bergkamp play his final match.
Cant believe Arsenal dont start with him these days.
I bet hes still better than tons of strikers everywhere.
Bergkamp, you rule !!
He started his career with Ajax (December 14, 1986) and he will finish it against Ajax (July 22, 2006).

We will always remember you !! I hope I get to see the last match of the great man !!

  • LOL, both you girls are spot on. I didnt know much about Ajax until I read up on Bergkamp some time ago.

FYI though, Ajax is a dutch football club where Bergkamp first joined as a junior when he was 12 years old.

  • Hey Suyog !!

All my favourite crickers like Johnty Rhodes, Carl Hooper, Srinath, Mark & Steve Waugh, Andy Flower etc., all the people whom I watched in every match when I was a kid...everyone is gone now. Suddenly...all at once. Ditto with Rivaldo, Zidane, Maldini...

These things suddenly make me sit up and think that time is passing, that its been a long long time since I havent done anything worthwhile...that the entire world is changing !!

I hope I get to meet Bergkamp someday. I know hes a humble man and a real nice guy.

  • Hey Prashanth !

You do all that? LOL, I dont. The only tournament I watched religiously was EURO2000. Thats the last major tournament that Bergkamp played for Holland, isn't it? Anyhow, that is when I started liking him as a player and since then hes been my favourite player.

I will though, catch as many matches as I can this time.

  • "Intelligence and class. Class is of course, most of the time linked to what you can do with the ball, but the intelligence makes you use the technique in an efficient way. It's like somebody who has a big vocabulary but he doesn't say intelligent words, and somebody who has a big vocabulary but he can talk intelligently, and that's what Dennis is all about. What he does, there's always a head and always a brain. And his technique allows him to do what he sees, and what he decides to do."

    - Arsenal Coach Arsene Wenger on Bergkamp.

Thanks for dropping by on blog :-)

  • bergkamp was goood....wasnt he....i still say that theirry henry perform so well whenever bergkamp is playing just behind him.......he provides the best of touches for him to score goals.....

maybe thats why henry has never been that good for france......cuz of no bergkamp.......

no doubt- one of the greatest striker to play in premiership.......he shud have played for much better clubs......

    btw i own FZ20........:)

  • Deeps : I know. I've seen that very often too. But still, Thierry Henry is a lot better than people like Nistelrooy or Del Piero. He does set up his own and others' goals as well unlike Nistelrooy types who are just there to pounce on chances from the midfield. No doubt they are great players in their own role but I always like good playmakers and maybe thats why Bergkamp is my favourite player.

Maybe I will buy some DVD of his greatest moments if anything of that sort ever comes out. I just hope he stays int he game as a commentator/coach/talk show host...whatever. It just wouldnt be fair for a player like him to fade away into nothingness.

I am facing a little problem with the camera shake on higher zoom, slow shutter speed. I generally have steady hands but I am wondering if there is anything I can do (other than use a tripod) to minimize camera shake. Tried the 2sec delayed release but its not a great help either. I use OIS mode-2.

  • Jedi : Hey man, thanks for dropping in. Yeah, Aayax is a super club and it benefited with a natural Dutch attacking streak.

I've read quite a few of those match analysis posts on your blog. Whats your opinion on Ghana-Italy? I hate Italy since they almost unsportingly denied Holland a place in the Euro 2000. Holland looked unbeatable then. I thought Ghana played really well but they missed a real striker. All their strikers totally sucked but they played a great game otherwise. Whatsay you?
